Best GEO (AI search) agencies for local businesses in 2026, compared honestly

By Asier Mugica, Founder · Published · Last updated · Every fact verified on the date shown

Full disclosure, before anything else

We are Magno, a GEO and SEO studio for local businesses. This is our comparison, our criteria are public, and we include ourselves in the one category where we honestly fit. We do not rank ourselves #1 overall. The list is alphabetical. Where a number is a company's own claim, we label it self-reported. Where we could not verify something, we say so instead of guessing.

So which GEO agency should a local business hire?

There is no single best GEO agency, only the best fit for one location and one budget. Whitespark publishes the clearest prices for local foundations. Sterling Sky has the deepest local search expertise. KailxLabs sells a fixed one-time build with a 45 day refund clause and city exclusivity. Thrive, Go Fish Digital, First Page Sage and Omniscient Digital are enterprise shops that will quote you accordingly. We are Magno, and we wrote this page. Everything below was verified on July 24, 2026.

Is this the right list for you?

This guide is for local businesses: one location or a handful, serving customers in a defined area, where the buying question sounds like "best med spa in Austin" or "gym near me with strength coaching". Clinics, studios, practices, contractors, restaurants, salons.

That scope matters because most "best GEO agency" lists you will find are written for enterprise and B2B software brands, and they quietly assume a budget of $10,000 a month or more. Recommending those agencies to a single-location owner is not advice, it is noise. We kept four of them on this list anyway, clearly labeled, so you can recognize them fast and stop reading their sales pages.

If you are a dental practice, we wrote a separate comparison specific to your market, with dental-only agencies and dental pricing: best dental SEO companies in 2026. This page does not repeat it.

If you are not sure what GEO even is or how it differs from what your current SEO agency does, start with GEO agency vs SEO agency and come back.

How do you read any ranking of agencies, including this one?

GEO is a young category, which means almost nobody has independent proof and everybody has a content team. The result is a search results page full of rankings written by the companies being ranked. That does not make them worthless. It means you need four tests before you trust any of them, this page included.

  1. Who published it? Look at the domain. If an agency wrote the list, you are reading marketing with footnotes.
  2. Does the publisher appear in its own ranking, and does it say so? Self-inclusion is fine. Silent self-inclusion at #1 is the tell.
  3. Is there a stated method, specific enough to check? "We evaluated expertise and results" is not a method. "We recorded public pricing from each site on this date" is.
  4. Are the facts dated? A price with no date is a price you cannot rely on, because agency pricing pages change quietly.

We ran those tests on July 24, 2026 against the pages currently competing for this query. Thrive's top GEO agencies list places Thrive at #1, with a stated weighting (60% AI visibility) but no disclosure that the publisher is the subject. LSEO's 2026 ranking also puts LSEO at #1, but it says so in its own words on the page: "We place LSEO as the #1 GEO agency (thanks to its thought leadership, client pedigree, and AI-forward capabilities), and also feature other top players worth considering." That is the disclosure we are asking for, and it is the better practice of the two. You still weigh a #1 the publisher awarded itself, but you are told before you read the list. Self-inclusion is not the problem. Silence about it is.

There is a subtler version worth knowing about, because it is harder to spot and it is currently aimed at local businesses. HouseofMVPs publishes a "Best AEO agencies for local businesses" ranking with KailxLabs at #1 and an "Editor's pick" badge, plus similar rankings for home services, cosmetic dentistry and med spas, each with KailxLabs first. The two sites share a founder. That is not a secret: the structured data on kailxlabs.co names Kailesk Khumar as founder and states he "also founded HouseofMVPs and SaveMRR", and the KailxLabs footer says plainly that houseofmvps.com "is one of ours". When we first published this page on July 24, 2026 we wrote that those ranking pages carried no disclosure. We re-checked all four of them on July 29, 2026 and that is no longer true, if it ever was: each one now states, above the list, "Disclosure: KailxLabs is HouseofMVPs' own AI search venture, and we rank it first here", and adds that every other agency listed is independent and has not paid for placement. That is exactly the disclosure we ask for, so we are correcting our own page rather than leaving the accusation standing.

We never raised it to attack a competitor. KailxLabs is on our list and earns its place on verifiable terms, and on this specific point they are now doing what we say everyone should do: say who you are before the reader weighs your opinion.

How did we compare them?

We took nine companies a local owner researching this query will actually run into: the names that keep surfacing across the dominant GEO rankings, the local search specialists those rankings tend to ignore, the two GEO-native newcomers selling directly to local businesses, and us. For each one we visited their own website on July 24, 2026 and recorded the same seven things.

  • Public pricing. Do they publish real numbers before a sales call, and which.
  • Guarantee, and its actual fine print. Not whether they say "guarantee", but what triggers it, what you get back, and by when.
  • Exclusivity. Will they take your direct competitor in the same city.
  • Who executes. The agency does the work, or you get briefs and your team publishes them.
  • Domain age. The registration date from public whois records, pulled the same day for all nine, because in a category this new, "since 2023" claims deserve a look. It is a floor and not a founding date, so where a company claims an older founding year we show both.
  • Client proof. Named clients, anonymous results, or none. We treat a company's own products as proof of concept, not client proof.
  • Honest best-for. The one situation where this company beats the rest of the list.

Same criteria applied to us, including the rows that make us look small. We did not pay for any placement here and nobody paid us. We re-verify every row quarterly. Next scheduled check: October 2026.

All rows verified July 24, 2026 against each company's own live website. The age column is domain registration date from public whois records, checked the same day, for all nine rows. Domain age is a floor, not a founding date: a company can predate its domain, and where a company states a different founding year we show that too, labeled as their claim. "None published" for a guarantee means we found no guarantee stated on their site, not that they will refuse to discuss terms. Prices in GBP are shown as published; we did not convert them. Re-verified quarterly.

The honest sell

Each company, and what it's genuinely best at.

First Page Sage

Best for enterprise and multi-location brands buying content-led GEO

  • Offer: a productized GEO service covering list and database inclusion, authority building, review management and social sentiment monitoring. They state they launched the first GEO service offering in May 2023 (self-reported).
  • Pricing: not public. Guarantee: none published. Exclusivity: not stated.
  • Clients: named and large. Their pages list Logitech, Salesforce, Alcoa and U.S. Bancorp.

Their claim to being early in this category is credible and their enterprise client list is real. The mismatch for you is scale: the reference accounts they publish are enterprises like Salesforce and U.S. Bancorp, we found no single-location business among them, and nothing on their site is priced or packaged for one clinic. They are also, notably, the publisher of one of the most visible agency rankings in the adjacent dental market, with themselves at #1. Judge the ranking accordingly and judge the agency on its enterprise work.

Go Fish Digital

Best for larger brands that need citation building through digital PR

  • Offer: semantic content audits, AI Overview and ChatGPT optimization, technical SEO for AI discovery, and digital PR to earn brand citations. They have built their own tooling for this, including an AI Overview analyzer and a semantic similarity extension.
  • Pricing: not public. Guarantee: none published. Exclusivity: not stated.
  • Clients: named, including Lowe's, LegalZoom, StackAdapt and K-Swiss. Target segments listed are eCommerce, SaaS, B2B and enterprise.

Of the enterprise shops here, they have the most substantive publicly visible GEO thinking, and digital PR genuinely does move AI citations because it creates the third-party sources models read. The catch for a local owner is the same as with First Page Sage: this is a program priced for brands, and the digital PR muscle that makes them good is largely wasted on a business that needs to win one city.

KailxLabs

Best for a single location that wants a fixed-price AI-ready rebuild with money back

  • Pricing: public and specific. $4,995 one time for the build, and you own the site, code and schema. Optional retainers after day 45: Citation Maintenance $2,000/mo, Citation Growth $3,500/mo, Authority Moat $6,500/mo.
  • Guarantee: cited by name on at least one agreed high-intent query across at least two agreed AI engines by day 45, or a full $4,995 refund paid within 7 days. You keep the site either way.
  • Exclusivity: one operator per city per vertical, stated explicitly.
  • Who executes: the founder, in their own words. Their site says "Built and delivered by Kailesk. Reachable directly." and caps capacity at "One operator, ten engagements at a time".
  • Age and proof: the domain was registered in November 2025, so roughly eight months old when we checked. Founder Kailesk Khumar. The results shown are the founder's own products, SaveMRR and HouseOfMVPs, and the client-style example on the page is labeled "Representative client scenario · Not an active client".

This is the most concrete offer on the list for a single location, and the guarantee is unusually specific in a category full of vague promises. Read the fine print as a feature, not a trap: "at least one agreed query across at least two agreed engines" means the queries get negotiated, so the whole value of that guarantee sits in which queries you agree to. Push for the ones that actually bring customers, in writing, before you sign. What to weigh: an eight-month-old studio with no named client results yet, where the published proof is the founder's own products. They label that honestly on their own site. The rankings on their sister site do not, as covered above.

Magno (that's us)

Best for single-location dental, fitness and beauty businesses that want AI visibility measured

  • Focus: dentists, gyms and beauty and aesthetics studios in the US and Australia. Nothing else.
  • Pricing: public on our pricing page. $1,500 audit credited 100% to month one, then Foundation $1,500/mo, Growth $2,500/mo, Dominate $5,000/mo.
  • Guarantee: cited in 90 days or we work free, on Growth and up, measured against a panel of 15 buying prompts frozen in writing at onboarding. Exclusivity: one business per city.
  • Age and proof: askmagno.com was registered on June 24, 2026. We are one month old. No named client case studies.
  • Our guarantee's fine print, held to the same standard we applied to KailxLabs above. It covers Growth and Dominate only, not Foundation and not the standalone audit. It is measured against a panel of 15 prompts frozen in writing at onboarding, so as with any guarantee of this shape, the whole value sits in which prompts you agree to, and you should push for the ones that actually bring you customers before you sign. The bar is 3 of those 15 prompts at a presence rate of 40% or better by day 90. The remedy is that we keep working at no charge until we clear it. It is not a refund, so if what you want is your money back, this is the wrong guarantee. The guarantee covers our fee, not third-party costs such as ad spend or tools. And we are the ones who declare the result, against screenshot evidence you can audit yourself. An independent referee would be better. We do not have one. One more clause you should know because it is the kind we tell you to hunt for: our terms condition the remedy on the client having completed the actions we flagged as required on their side, so if you sit on the work we ask for, the guarantee does not carry you.
  • What you should not expect: capacity. This is founder-led, capped at 4 onboardings a month and one business per city, so if your competitor signs first you are on a waitlist. There is no account team and nobody on call. If you need a support line, a bench of specialists or same-day turnaround, hire a bigger shop on this list.

Here is the uncomfortable part, since we wrote this page. We are one of the three newest companies on this list and we have no client logos to show you. Our domain was registered on June 24, 2026, which made us one month old when we checked, and only KailxLabs at about eight months and The GEO Agency at ten days share that end of the table. The GEO Agency is newer than we are. What we published instead is our own day-zero baseline, scored by the same method we sell: a GEO score of 47 out of 100, an AI share of voice of 0.0 with zero mentions across 90 runs, 0 clicks and 39 impressions in 28 days, and 0 of our own 15 prompts at the guarantee bar. Those numbers are bad and they are dated and frozen, and the panel gets re-run monthly with the deltas published either way. You can read the whole thing on our work page.

If you want a decade of case studies, hire Sterling Sky or Whitespark. If you want the biggest agency in the room, hire Thrive. If what you want is founder-level attention, published prices, a guarantee tied to a baseline you can audit, and someone who will show you their own bad numbers first, that is what we do. We serve dental practices, gyms and med spas.

Omniscient Digital

Best for B2B software companies. Listed here so local owners can rule it out quickly

  • Focus: stated plainly on their homepage as an organic growth agency for B2B software companies. GEO is one service among SEO, content, programmatic SEO and digital PR.
  • Pricing: partially public, and refreshingly blunt: full-service engagements start at $10,000 a month.
  • Clients: named with numbers, including Jasper and Smartling.

They are good at what they do and they say who it is for, which is more than most. We include them because they appear on general GEO agency lists that local owners read, and a $10,000 monthly floor aimed at SaaS companies is not a fit for a single location. Knowing which agencies to skip saves you more time than another shortlist.

Sterling Sky

Best for local businesses that want the deepest local search expertise

  • Focus: local SEO, Google Business Profile, Local Service Ads and consulting, for local businesses in Canada and the US. Founded and led by Joy Hawkins.
  • Pricing: not public. Guarantee: none published.
  • Proof: named case studies including dental and dermatology practices, plus a published testing program (over 1,000 tests, self-reported), Search Engine Land columns and contributions to Moz's Local Search Ranking Factors.

If you want the people who actually run experiments on local search rather than repeating what they read, this is the strongest profile on the list. Their published research is genuinely used by the rest of the industry. The honest caveat for this specific query: we did not find AI search or GEO productized on their site the way the newer shops package it, so if being named in ChatGPT answers is your explicit goal, ask directly what they measure and how. Their local foundations work feeds AI answers regardless, because that is where the models get local facts.

The GEO Agency (GEO for Aesthetics)

Best for UK aesthetic clinics that have their own marketing team

  • Who: The GEO Agency, London, trading for clinics and medical aesthetics as GEO for Aesthetics. Founder Ayse Durmush. Service area listed as Great Britain.
  • Pricing: public in pounds. The Signal at £495/mo (£4,950/yr) self-serve, The Momentum at £995/mo (£9,950/yr) with one improvement completed for you each month, and The Build at a £3,500 one-off analysis then £2,500/mo with four improvements a month delivered. There is also a £250 one-off entry audit, in-person team training at £1,000 per seat, and a Scale tier priced on application. Every plan starts with a 90-day initial term, then runs monthly with 30 days' notice.
  • Who executes: this is the key detail. At the lower tiers you get the intelligence and the briefs, described as copy and paste and "run it with your own team, at your own pace". Agency execution (2 assets a month, written and delivered publish-ready) starts at the The Build level.
  • Age and proof: geoforaesthetics.com was registered on July 14, 2026, ten days before we checked. No named clients. The examples on the site are illustrative. Guarantee: none published.

The pricing transparency is excellent and the entry point is the lowest on this list, which makes it a real option for a clinic that has someone in-house who can publish content. Two things to be clear-eyed about. First, at £495 and £995 you are buying tracking, reporting and briefs, not execution: their own page describes those tiers as copy and paste for you to run with your own team, and agency execution only starts at the The Build tier. Budget for who publishes. Second, the domain is days old. The parent domain thegeoagency.io was registered on March 23, 2026, so roughly four months, and the founder's background is stated as thirty years in global brands, but there are no named client results published yet, so treat this as an early-stage bet on a specialist you like rather than a proven track record.

Thrive Internet Marketing Agency

Best for multi-location businesses that want big-agency process and visible reviews

  • Focus: full-service generalist, founded 2005, offices in many cities, dozens of verticals (self-reported).
  • Pricing: not public. Guarantee: none published.
  • Proof: named clients and a visible review footprint, 150+ Google reviews and 100+ Clutch reviews displayed on their own pages. AI traffic growth figures they publish are internal and self-reported.

No boutique on this list matches their process maturity or third-party review volume, and for a group with several locations that matters. Two things to hold in mind. Their own top GEO agencies ranking puts Thrive at #1 without disclosing that the publisher is the subject, which is worth knowing when that page shows up in your research. And in our own tracking (90 runs across 15 buying prompts, July 2026), Thrive's pages were among the sources Perplexity cited most on agency comparison questions, which is a real signal that their content strategy works, and also a reminder that the agency an AI recommends is often just the one that publishes the most.

Whitespark

Best for local businesses that want local foundations at published prices

  • Focus: local search, since 2005, based in Edmonton, Canada. Both software and done-for-you services.
  • Pricing: the most transparent on this list. SEO services from $499 to $1,999/mo. Listings packages from $20 to $999 one time. Local Ranking Grids from $10/mo, Local Rank Tracker $14 to $200/mo, Local Citation Finder $33 to $149/mo, Reputation Builder $79/mo per location. They state they do not force bundling.
  • Guarantee: none published. Exclusivity: not stated.

For a local business with a modest budget, this is the most sensible starting point on the entire list, and it is the only one where you can buy a small, defined piece of work without a sales call. Citations, listings and reputation are exactly the foundations AI answers read when deciding which local business to name. What you should not expect is a packaged "get cited by ChatGPT" program with prompt-level measurement, because that is not how they frame their offer. If your budget is under $1,000 a month, start here rather than with anyone selling AI visibility as a premium product.

Do you need an agency, or just a tracking tool?

Worth asking before you spend anything. A growing group of products will tell you where your brand shows up across AI engines without hiring anyone. Profound publishes $99/mo for Starter and $399/mo for Growth (billed yearly), running structured prompts across AI platforms daily and tracking citations, sentiment and competitive presence. Several agencies on this list, including The GEO Agency at its lower tiers, are essentially selling a tracking layer with human commentary on top.

The distinction that matters: a tool measures, an agency changes the answer. Knowing that ChatGPT does not name your clinic is useful for exactly one week. After that you need someone to fix the schema, write the pages a model can quote, clean up the Google Business Profile, and earn the third-party mentions that shift what the model says. If money is tight, buying measurement first is a genuinely smart move, because you walk into every agency conversation holding your own baseline instead of theirs.

What does a fair GEO guarantee actually look like?

Two of the nine companies here publish one, which tells you something about the category. A guarantee is not a promise that you will win. It is a statement about who carries the risk if nothing moves, and it is only worth reading in the fine print.

KailxLabs promises citation by name on at least one agreed high-intent query across at least two agreed engines by day 45, or your $4,995 back within 7 days, and you keep the site. Ours promises citation for your core services within 90 days on Growth and up (not Foundation, not the standalone audit), measured against 15 prompts frozen in writing at onboarding, with the bar set at 3 of those 15 at a presence rate of 40% or better by day 90. Miss it and we keep working free, which is continued work rather than money back. Both have the same load-bearing word: agreed. Ours also has a second one: we are the party who declares whether we hit the bar, against evidence you can audit. A guarantee against queries nobody searches is theatre. So whichever you sign, the real negotiation is the prompt list, and it should be in the contract, not the sales call.

Three questions to ask anyone offering a guarantee. Which exact queries, written down, and who picks them? Which engines count, and how many runs per prompt, since AI answers vary run to run and a single lucky screenshot is not evidence? And what happens on the day it fails: a refund, free work, or a conversation? If they cannot answer all three in writing, the guarantee is marketing.

Match to your situation

How do you choose for your business?

One location, tight budget

Under about $1,000 a month, a premium AI visibility program will eat your margin before it can work. Fix the foundations first, because they are what AI answers read anyway.

Shortlist: Whitespark for citations, listings and reputation at published prices. A tracking tool for your own baseline. KailxLabs if you can fund a one-time build and want the refund clause.

Ask: what is the smallest piece of work I can buy, and what do I get in month one?

One location, real budget

You can afford a program, so your risk is paying for activity rather than outcomes. Demand a baseline before anyone touches anything.

Shortlist: Sterling Sky for depth of local expertise. KailxLabs or Magno if you want exclusivity in your city and a guarantee tied to named prompts. The GEO Agency if you are a UK clinic with someone in-house to publish.

Ask: show me the baseline you would freeze for me, and the exact prompts you would measure.

Several locations or a group

Your problem is consistency across locations and enough production capacity to keep every profile and page current, without locations competing with each other.

Shortlist: Thrive for process maturity and review-backed delivery. Go Fish Digital or First Page Sage if you have enterprise budget and need citation building through digital PR.

Ask: show me per-location reporting from a current client, and how you stop my locations cannibalizing each other.

Is it too early to hire anyone for AI search?

The demand side is already here. In our own tracking (90 runs across 15 buying prompts across dental, gym and med spa searches, July 2026), Google AI Overviews fired in 42 of 45 eligible runs, and Reddit threads were pulled into 27 of 45 of those answers. When someone asks an assistant for the best clinic in their city, they get two or three names, not ten links.

The supply side is close to empty. SOCi's 2026 Local Visibility Index looked at more than 350,000 locations across 2,751 multi-location brands and found ChatGPT recommended 1.2% of them, against 35.9% visibility in Google's local pack (vendor-reported, directional). Read who that measures: chains, not independents. SOCi's companion piece adds that "LLMs often favor single-location businesses" because their signals are unified, so a local operator is better placed here than a national brand. Scarce answers tend to be winner-take-most, and whoever does the work first usually keeps the spot. The work itself is not mysterious either: the academic GEO study (Aggarwal et al., 2024) measured up to 40% higher visibility in generative answers from citability optimizations alone (academic setting, earlier-generation engines, directional, not a promise).

So no, it is not too early. But it is early enough that the category is full of month-old studios with confident language, which is exactly why we spent this page on verification rather than adjectives. Three of the nine companies here, including us, have domains registered within the last year: KailxLabs at about eight months, us at one month, and The GEO Agency at ten days. That is not disqualifying. It just means the burden of proof sits with them, and with us.

Fair questions

Questions about this comparison.

Who wrote this comparison of GEO agencies?
We did. Magno is a founder-led GEO and SEO studio for dentists, gyms and med spas in the US and Australia. This is our comparison, our criteria are public, the list is alphabetical, and we include ourselves in the one category where we honestly fit. We do not claim the number one spot. A publisher crowning itself first is the common pattern on this query: of the two agency-published rankings we checked, both put themselves at #1, and one of them said so.
What is the best GEO agency for a local business in 2026?
There is no single best, only the best fit. Whitespark is the strongest option for local foundations at published prices, from $499 to $1,999 per month. Sterling Sky has the deepest local search expertise and named case studies. KailxLabs offers a fixed $4,995 one-time build with a 45 day cited-or-refunded guarantee and one operator per city. The GEO Agency fits UK aesthetic clinics with an in-house team. Thrive, Go Fish Digital, First Page Sage and Omniscient Digital are built for enterprise and B2B budgets, not single locations. Magno (us) fits single-location businesses in dental, fitness and beauty that want AI visibility measured against a frozen prompt panel.
How much does a GEO agency cost for a local business?
Most GEO agencies publish nothing. Among those that do, verified on July 29, 2026: Whitespark runs SEO services from $499 to $1,999 per month, KailxLabs charges $4,995 one time with optional retainers of $2,000 to $6,500 per month, The GEO Agency publishes £495 to £995 per month plus a £3,500 one-off analysis then £2,500 per month for the done-for-you tier, and Magno runs $1,500 to $5,000 per month with a $1,500 audit credited fully to month one. Omniscient Digital states engagements start at $10,000 per month, which tells you it is not built for a single location. A realistic planning range for one location is $500 to $5,000 per month.
Is a GEO agency different from an SEO agency?
In 2026 the honest answer is that most GEO work is SEO work plus three additions: structured data that describes your business as an entity, content written in language a model can lift and quote, and measurement against a fixed set of prompts instead of keyword rankings. Be skeptical of anyone selling GEO as a separate universe that replaces local SEO. Your Google Business Profile, reviews and citations still feed the AI answers. The useful question is not whether an agency calls itself GEO or SEO, but whether it can show you what it measures and how often.
How should I read any ranking of GEO agencies, including this one?
Apply four tests. First, who published it: if an agency wrote the list, check whether it appears in its own ranking. Second, does it disclose that. Third, is a method stated and is it specific enough to check. Fourth, are the facts dated, so you know whether a price is current. On July 24, 2026 we ran these tests on the pages ranking for this query. Thrive ranks itself first in its own GEO list with no disclosure that the publisher is the subject. LSEO also ranks itself first, but discloses it on the page, writing that it places LSEO as the #1 GEO agency and also features other top players worth considering. That is the difference worth spotting: self-inclusion is fine when it is stated. Those lists contain real research either way, so read them knowing who wrote them.
Are AI visibility tools like Profound a replacement for an agency?
No, they are a different purchase. Profound publishes pricing at $99 per month for Starter and $399 per month for Growth, billed yearly, and it monitors where your brand appears across AI engines. That is measurement, not the work. A tool tells you that ChatGPT does not name you. It does not fix your schema, write your citable pages, clean your Google Business Profile or earn the mentions that change the answer. If your budget is small, buying a tool first is a reasonable move, because it gives you a baseline you own before you hire anyone.
How is this page kept honest and up to date?
Every fact was verified by visiting each company's own site on July 24, 2026, the date shown on every row. Domain ages come from public whois registration records checked the same day, for all nine rows, and we treat domain age as a floor rather than a founding date. Numbers a company claims about itself are labeled self-reported. We re-verify every row quarterly, and the next scheduled check is October 2026. If we got something wrong about your agency, email us through our contact page and we will correct it within one week.
